SOUNDBITE (English) Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager:

"Southampton, obviously it was a big game for them in terms of the Champions League. A lot of pressure... but they played very, very well (in the) first half. We lacked a bit of a physical presence (at the) top of the pitch, and it (the ball) just kept coming back. I thought the referee could have helped us a little bit with their centre halves a bit too aggressive through the back, but we really didn't get anything. Second half, we were much better. I thought we were a threat on the break. We started looking dangerous. Southampton were running out of ideas and we should have scored. We had a couple of really good chances and I think we should have had a penalty as well.

"And then really a couple of little errors and we've conceded a goal which we don't deserve. The performance level of the players was fantastic. Seeing them on the floor at the end, the commitment they're showing me. I can't ask for anything more than they're giving me and I feel for them a little bit today. I think they were a bit unlucky."
