SOUNDBITE (English): Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks head coach (on the decision to pass on 2nd & 1):

" It's really what happened on this one sequence that...We want to win the game and we have everything in mind (as to) how we're going to do it. We don't leave them no time and we had our plays to do it. We'd send in our personal, they'd send in goalline - it's not the right match-up for us to run the football so on second down we really throw the ball to waste that play. If we score we do, if we don't then we'll run it on 3rd and 4th down. Really with no second thoughts and no hesitation at all. And Unfortunately with the play that we tried to execute, the guy makes a great play and he jumps in front of the route. An incredible play that nobody thinks he could do and unfortunately that changes the whole outcome. So, I told the guys in the locker room, they're a great team and they fought to prove that and they did everything to do that again tonight. They're on the precipice of winning another championship and unfortunately, the play goes the other way so there is really nobody to blame but me and I told them that clearly. I don't want them to think anything other than that. They busted their tales, they did everything they needed to do to put us in a position and unfortunately it didn't work outright. Very, very hard lesson."

SOUNDBITE (English): Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks head coach: "

"Here's the deal. We sent our guys on the field, wide receivers on the field, spread them out...they ran on their goalline, they got all their big guys out there. At that moment I didn't want to waste a run play against their goalline guys. Throw the ball, we'll win on 3rd & 4th down, we can match up. So it's a really clear thought. It wasn't something that happened out. It was a clear thought but it didn't work outright. We happened to throw them the ball and they make a big play."
