Contrasting positions for the two Bruges sides ahead of a what is always a fiery derby in the Pro League.

And it was top placed Club Brugge who started quickest against their city rivals Cercle Brugge.

Ruud Vormer fouled in the box and chance for Lior Refaelov - one that he wasted with this effort.

But moments later Jose Izquierdo showed much more composure when he raced through on goal to give Club Brugge the lead.

It was one way traffic, only the bar denied Thomas Meunier making it 2-0.

It took until late in the second half for Club to score their second, Izquierdo was again involved as his saved shot fell to Felipe Gedoz who found the target.

But he did score a deserved second just before full time as he again outpaced the Cercle defence to make it 3-0

Cercle Brugge's relegation worries increase. For Club Brugge, no such problems as they go 5 points clear at the top.
