  • Intro:

Reaction after the Dallas Cowboys beat the Detroit Lions 24-20 in the first round of the NFC (National Football Conference) playoffs on Sunday (4th January).

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: Jim Caldwell, Detroit Lions head coach

"We're all extremely disappointed, you know, that's a very disappointed locker room, staff and everybody else involved with the organisation because our goal is to win it all and there's going to be one happy team at the end of the year and it's not going to be us. But, you know, I thought our guys came out, I thought we started well, we're able to put some points on the board but then let a couple of big plays get out and they kept kind of inching closer and closer."

SOUNDBITE: Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions head quarterback

"Yeah, I mean it's a big play in the game and there's no question about it. If we, you know, get those yards there who knows, maybe we go score a touchdown (and the) thing's out of reach. But there were a lot of little plays along the way here and there that, you know, if we just executed a little bit better in all phases on a few, we come away with a win but it's a good Dallas team, I mean they're very well rounded, they have a great offence, defence that had a great plan today and, you know, they won the game."
