"I can only talk on the conversations that I've had with Steven and he's never felt unhappy, you know. Obviously, whatever has gone on with the club and the agents, I haven't been party to that. But he's obviously someone we wanted to keep here. You know, the club offered a deal. I, as I said, still wanted Steven to be very much a part of what I was doing. But like I said, it went on and on, you know, at the time nothing was agreed and, of course, I always feel that, with players, the closer you get to January, if you're in the last year of your contract, from a player's perspective, you're not going to rush into anything. If you're in your last year and you can come to January and you can speak to other clubs... it's something that I'm sure any player would do. So, the timeline, as you said, moved on and obviously gave him more thinking time."
