Pulis full of praise for Gateshead

Sunday, January 04 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Reaction after Tony Pulis won his first match as head coach of West Bromwich Albion, 7-0 at home to non-league Gateshead on Saturday (3 January) in the third round of the F.A. Cup.

    Script:

"First and foremost I want to say how well I thought Gateshead played. You know, first 20-25 minutes, until the first goal went in, I thought they did ever so well and, you know, we looked a little bit nervous. And fair credit to them as a football club. I wish them all the best. You know, they're... Millsy's (Gateshead manager Gary Mills) done a great job there. And yeah, great credit to them."

"We started, again, very apprehensive - and they shouldn't be like that but they have been a little bit like it, I thought they were a little bit like it at West Ham (1-1 away draw on 1 January), especially in the final third. But, you know, that's got to... we've got to sort of like eradicate that and they've got to play with confidence and belief."

"No, it's a good start and, you know, like I say the real work starts Monday. We've got a difficult job on our hands. There's lots of clubs down there who are fighting for (Premier League) survival and we're one of them. We've got to make sure that we... you know, the (transfer) window is going to be important, it's going to be a big window for us. We certainly need to strengthen the team and strengthen the squad, and that's what I'll be looking for."
