"Well it's certainly very important and you want to start fast in all three phases of your team. You want your kick-off team or your kick-off return team to set the tone. And you want your defence, you want to get stops and get off the field. And on offence if you can drive the ball well early it makes a big impact on the game. I think we've done that well throughout the year particularly of late. It's important. Every play matters. Every play build on the previous play so we really emphasize one play at a time and starting fast. Right from the get go if you can make an impact on the game it certainly helps dictate how the game's going to played from then on."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jim Caldwell, Detroit Lions Head Coach:

"He's (Matthew Stafford) got the ability and not only that he's shown flashes of playing extremely well. One of the things - quarterbacks always get these labels - is he elite, is he this, is he that? He's a playoff quarterback so that means he has an opportunity to move forward and an opportunity to play great. We're hopping that he plays well - and it doesn't take him playing great for us to win - he just has to play well. There's a lot of other people on that football team that have to do their job. It's absolutely not just a one-man show. I will tell you - there a certain things I told you in week one, I told you we wanted to win and we wanted to win now. There's no 3-4 year plan or anything of that nature. And I think we're moving in that direction. The other thing I will tell you is there can be a time when you will say, Matthew Stafford is one heck of a quarterback. And he's moving in that direction. And that could be come Sunday."
