Reaction after Newcastle United were held to a 3-3 draw by Burnley in the English Premier League on Thursday (1st January), with the visitors coming from behind three times to deny John Carver a winning start in his second spell as the 'Magpies'' caretaker manager.

Script:

Sean Dyche, Burnley manager:
"People talk about the energy and effort we put in and the organisation, I thought some of the quality today was absolutely outstanding, after 25 minutes. I thought they (Newcastle United) were excellent for 25 minutes, reaction to the change in manager, on the front foot, kept it, kept putting crosses in the box from all sorts of places. We hung on through that period. They went one-nil up, we got the break with the own goal. They go two-one, then we got three changes. People, I think, are probably thinking 'it's going to be tough now' and it just shows yet again the unshakeable desire and belief the players have in each other and how we operate."

(asked if a point was the least his side deserved):
"I would think so, on this occasion. I'm not always overly dramatic in the fine margins of games, but when you hit the woodwork four, maybe five times and the chances we created, then it is certainly a head-scratcher today how we didn't come away with a win."

 
John Carver, Newcastle United caretaker manager (on rotating players for Saturday's FA Cup tie away to Leicester City):
"What we've got to do now is dust our self down and see what we've got available for this game on Saturday because, I know how important this Saturday game is, and I know how important it is to put a team on the pitch that's going to win the game. Leicester have had a good result today (drew 2-2 away to Liverpool), but we need to put a team on the pitch that's going to win the game.... and that's my only thoughts at the moment."
