Millen: Pardew no input; Lambert: Finishing poor

  • Intro:

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace played out a drab goalless draw in the English Premier League on Thursday (January 1st).
    Script:

Caretaker Crystal Palace manager Keith Millen (about probable new manager Alan Pardew)
"I kept the lads in the know from what I knew from the chairman. Before the game when we left the hotel we weren't sure whether Alan would be coming to the game but then I got a message to say that he was. I felt it was right that the lads knew. He didn't have any input during the game or before but he came in after to congratulate the players. He was really pleased and proud with what he had seen. But he also said that we need to add more to our game to score more goals and win football matches and that's right."

    Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert
"When you have that much of the ball, it's not that we're not having chances, we just have to take them to finish off the good play because we are dominating games, which is really pleasing. When you have chances you've got to score and sometimes when you have a lot of the ball it can be detrimental but Crystal Palace defended really deep with a lot of men behind the ball. We still had chances but when those chances come you've got to score."
