  • Intro:

Reaction from both managers after Queen's Park Rangers and Swansea City drew 1-1 in the English Premier League on Thursday (1 January).

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harry Redknapp, Queen's Park Rangers manager: (talking about conceding the late goal)

"We needed... you always feel you need a second goal, but when they put three minutes up, you certainly think well.... just got to manage to see the game out now you know. Get it in the right areas, play down the sides. We had a good opportunity when it came out to Junior (Hoilett) and we could have killed them off really."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harry Redknapp, Queen's Park Rangers manager: (talking about conceding the late goal)

"When you're hanging on and you're anxious and there's a minute to go, that can happen. It happened here with Liverpool in the last second of the game when we should have drawn with Liverpool at least here when we got back to 2-all and conceded in the last seconds. They were two more vital points today I felt we deserved and we needed but we couldn't quite hang on for."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Monk, Swansea City manager: (talking about the tackle by QPR's Karl Henry on Wayne Routledge in the 86th minute which went unpunished, but Routledge was sent off by referee Anthony Taylor for his reaction to the Rangers midfielder)

"It's a leg breaker for sure. Instantly knew.... I think everyone knew in the stadium apart from the official and then the double whammy of our player getting sent off for apparently kicking out. He doesn't kick out at all. Doesn't kick out at all. I just hope justice is done, not just for us, but for football in itself because I'm losing a bit of faith. It's hard for us to keep faith when we've continually had decisions like this, big moments within games. That sounds like me moaning, I'm not at all. I'm just telling you the facts. I just hope the red card gets rescinded because that will 100 per cent be the right thing that happens."
