Alan Pardew has reportedly been given permission to talk to Crystal Palace about taking over at Selhurst Park.

Palace have allegedly agreed to pay around £2.5 million in compensation to appoint the Newcastle United boss.

Pardew is the Premier League's second longest serving manager and is set to return to his first professional club, who lie eight places below the Magpies and sit in the relegation zone.

The 53-year-old, whose family home remains in Surrey, reportedly grew frustrated with Mike Ashley's Newcastle transfer policy.
