  • Intro:

Reaction after Stoke City beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 in the Premier League.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Irvine, West Bromwich Albion Manager:
"Yeah, I was. I was a little bit disappointed with our finishing because we had got into good positions. But obviously other than that I was happy with the way that we had played. We'd probably dominated the game. We created chances and I felt that just by being a bit more clinical and just by tidying up in the final third that we would get the chances to score."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mark Hughes, Stoke City Manager:
"Yeah really important for us. We hadn't managed it up to this point so back-to-back wins is really important. Clean sheet as well, which is encouraging for us. Difficult football teams to be fair. I felt having to go again in quick succession after great performance and huge effort against Everton I think, probably in the first half, we just lacked the little bit of sharpness that we normally show in the opening periods of the games and we didn't really create a great deal. In the second half we talked about maybe giving them a different type of problem, knocking the ball in behind and maybe getting on the end of things and we showed more energy. I just think we got maybe a second wind - for want of a better phrase - and we were more energetic on the front foot and that is when we scored the goal. I thought that today whoever scored first was always going to be in the ascendancy. It was always important to get that first goal - thankfully it was us. Then the second goal came very quickly after that and we were able to take the game away from them. So, delighted with it."
