    Wellington Phoenix beat Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0 in the Australian A-League on Sunday (28 December).

    Script:

    Wellington Phoenix were looking to cement their place in the play-off spots as they hosted Sydney at the WestPac Stadium.

    The Western Sydney Wanderers are the only remaining winless side in the A-League & they were almost behind early on. Nathan Burns, the league's top goalscorer with the shot.

    Shortly after, Wellington were again on the attack. Wanderers' Daniel Alessi penalised for clipping the heels of Roy Krishna.

    Krishna dusted himself off for the penalty, although he needed two attempts to put the ball home.

    The Fijian with his fifth goal of the campaign, giving Wellington a 1-0 lead.

    And that was the way it remained until the second half.

    Sydney began to find their rhythm and probably should of equalised through Tomi Juric in the 68th minute.

    The game finished 1-0. And the Wanderers remain bottom of the table, while Wellington go fourth, seven points behind leaders Perth Glory.
