Arsenal 'fortunate' to win - Wenger

Saturday, December 27 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Arsenal survived the sending-off of striker Olivier Giroud for a reckless headbutt to beat QPR 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Friday (December 26) and close back up on the top four of the English Premier League.

    Script:

"We did but we had two games. One we were completely in control and even with ten men I think we were in control of the game until 2-1. After you never now. And the last five or six minutes were tetchy because we conceded a goal last week and you could feel that was a bit in our mind. But overall, I think we were in control for a big part of the game. And in the end I think we have shown resilience and managed fortunately to get the three points."

"Madness is a big, strong word (to describe Olivier Giroud's actions that led to the red card). He didn't kill him (QPR defender Nedum Onuoha). He touched him and he should not have done it. He should have been in control. Olivier Giroud knows he made a mistake. And I know him well enough to know that he will not do it again."

"I am happy that I could win 400 (English Premier League games) because it is not as easy as it looks. The next 400 will be much more difficult."
