  • Intro:

Panathinaikos beat Kerkyra 2-0 at home on Monday (22 December) to go third in the Greek Super League.

    Script:

After losing last week at Xanthi, Panathinaikos knew a win over AOK Kerkyra was all important going into the winter break.

The hosts had much of the possession and went close through Thanasis Dinas in the 36th minute, Panathinaikos looked fortunate not to be penalised in the build up to the opener.

Danijel Pranjic's shot looked to be of no danger, until Nikos Karelis' put the men from Athens one ahead.

Karelis with surely his most fortunate of seven goals this season.

The men in Green continued to dominate - 65% possession in the game - and it was left to defender Diamantis Houhoumis to get them home & dry.

The game ending 2-0 with Panathinaikos move onto 29 points, within four of Olympiakos who lie one off leaders PAOK, heading into the winter break.
