Bottom club Al Shamal - without a win yet this season - hosted unbeaten Qatar Stars League leaders Al Sadd on Wednesday
The visitors took the lead after 11 minutes when Abdelkarim Hassan headed home from a corner.
But Al Shamal upset the form book and struck back to lead at the break.
Yong-Hyung Cho levelled with a left footed shot through a crowd of players after 17 minutes and Said Boutahar made it 2-1 on the half-hour mark as he finished a flowing breakaway move after being set up by Maher Haddad.
A shock was on the cards but just past the hour mark Hassan Khalid Al Haidos did this - goalkeeper Haitham Al Ishri caught out at his near post to save Al Sadd's blushes.
The 2-2 draw means that Al Sadd remain unbeaten after 13 games and they extend their lead at the top over second-placed Lekhwiya to three points.
Al Shamal remain bottom on five points.
