SOUNDBITE (English) Jerome Champagne, candidate for the 2015 FIFA presidential election:
"The World Cup is the pinnacle of world football, a lot of things have been said. The benefit of the doubt, which is a principle in democracy should also benefit all the accused, so that's clear for me. However, I continue to ask, as I have been saying consistently since I launched my candidacy, that we need to know what happened, we need to check whether the integrity of the vote on the second of December 2010 has been respected or not and so I only hope the truth will come. That's the only thing I can hope as a citizen of football."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jerome Champagne, candidate for the 2015 FIFA presidential election:
"At least we need to protect the witnesses and the whistleblowers, and you have seen this has not been respected by Mr. Eckert (chairman of the adjudicatory chamber of FIFA's ethics committee Hans-Joachim Eckert), but what is clear we need to know the findings and we need to know the recommendations."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jerome Champagne, candidate for the 2015 FIFA presidential election:
"So I think FIFA is blamed for everything which takes place in football, positively, and unfortunately, negatively as well. However, there is no doubt that the images has to be rebuilt. This is one of the three pillars of my platform, to work with the example, to be more open, to be more transparent, to be more, I would say, accessible and to be more connected with the public opinion, this is also why I'm standing."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jerome Champagne, candidate for the 2015 FIFA presidential election:
"Regarding Russia, I thinks this is absolutely good that we take the World Cup to the Eastern part of Europe because to some extent this is paying tribute to what the Russian football has brought to the world. Personally, my first diplomatic assignment was in the Persian Gulf. I love the Arab culture and I found it absolutely excellent that we took the World Cup to an arab country, but I think this is even in the interest of the Qataris to make sure that this World Cup, if it takes place there, will be taking place with a free mind, without keeping in the back of your brain all the controversies."
