Liverpool must beat Basel at home or they will be out of the Champions League. They've been in a similar situation before, 10 years ago Steven Gerrard led them to a famous win at Anfield.

It's an opportunity now for the players to qualify and write themselves into folklore by winning the game and ensuring they get into the next round because that's the objective."

The Swiss side only need to avoid defeat to go through, but they've stuggled on their travels so far.

"Basel come here on the back of losing their away games in the group so far. They understand I'm sure it's going to be a tough game for them."

But Basel did beat Liverpool in the reverse fixture, Brendan Rodgers will hope his players at least gained something, if not points, from that experience.

"We obviously learnt a harsh lesson in the away match and we certainly won't underestimate them from that point of view. We know what they are capable of so we don't think there will be any surprises from that point of view."
