FC Thun hosted Zurich in the Swiss Super League on Saturday and it was the visitors who needed to get back to winning ways.
They suffered a home defeat to Basel last weekend - all three points here would keep them in touching distance of the league leaders.
But it was Thun who opened the scoring through Nelson Ferreira.
It was a controversial opener, the move started when the ball deflected off referee Sascha Amhof.
Play was allowed to continue and resulted in the 22nd minute goal.
Zurich equalised just five minutes later though.
Thun failed to deal with a low cross into their area and Franck Etoundi rifled the ball into the back of the net after his side's initial shot was blocked.
Not to be outdone, Thun quickly hit back after 2 minutes.
On the counter attack again following a break down in Zurich's play, Christian Schneuwly's bullet of a shot gave the hosts the lead.
Zurich's best chance for an equaliser fell to Etoundi in stoppage time.
But the Cameroonian's shot went wide.
The game ended 2-1, the win allowing Thun to go fourth while Zurich remain second, eight points behind Basel.
