Standard de Liege broke a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 win at fierce rivals Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday (7 December).

    Script:

Sporting Charleroi's six game unbeaten run was broken on Sunday as they conceded 1-0 to their bitter rivals Standard de Liege in the Belgian Pro League.

Standard dominated the game from the beginning. Yuji Ono's shot in the 6th minute was impressively saved by Nicolas Penneteau.

The persistence of the away team finally turned into a result just before the break when Geoffrey Mujangi Bia's sublime pass found Igor de Camargo, who slotted the ball into the net to open the score.

The second half continued to belong to Standard. Bia attempted to make his mark on the scoresheet again when he shot at an open goal, but his effort was saved by Javi Martos.

Charleroi did manage to salvage what was left of the game towards the end. Jessy Galvez came close to equalising but his shot hit the crossbar.

The score almost equalised in the last minute after goalie Yohann Thuram fumbled with the ball, but Laurent Ciman's clear cemented the three points.

The final result meant that Standard Liege finally managed to break free of their four game losing streak.
