  • Intro:

Zenit St. Petersburg maintained a comfortable lead at the top of the Russian Premier League with a 4-0 thrashing of Krasnodar on Saturday (6th December).

    Script:

Snow greeted Zenit St Petersburg and FC Krasnodar for their Russian Premier League encounter.

The weather didn't stop Zenit though, and they got off to the perfect start after 10 minutes, Hulk hitting the post with his freekick.

The ball came back into the area where centreback Ezequiel Garay was the quickest to react, putting the ball into the empty net to make it 1-0.

Zenit doubled their lead in the second half, Krasnodar's substitute goalkeeper Andrei Sinitsyn spilling an innocuous cross straight into the path of Axel Witsel who made it 2-0.

The smoke from flares impairing the camera's vision of the goal, perhaps it had a similar effect on Sinitsyn.

The home side all but secured three points just after the hour mark when Miguel Danny finished following a period of confusing play.

It was 4-0 just five minutes later.

Full back Igor Smolnikov being played through by a wonderfully weighted Hulk pass, he finished it in style chipping in over the goalkeeper.

That's how it finished, the win moving Zenit seven points clear of CSKA Moscow in the Russian Premier League.
