In-form Feyenoord hammered Excelsior 5-2 in the Rotterdam derby in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday (6 December).

Feyenoord travelled to city rivals Excelsior for the Rotterdam derby on Saturday evening looking to secure a seventh Eredivisie win in eight games.

And they couldn't have hoped for a better start, Colin Kazim-Richards opened the scoring in the 6th minute when he took advantage of some near comical defending.

While he was on his toes to steal the ball, he produced a wonderful finish for his fifth of the season.

Jean-Paul Boetius doubled the visitors advantage in the 18th minute.

Once again the defence didn't make it difficult, as they gift wrapped a back pass that Boetius slotted home.

It was three inside 26 minutes - Excelsior failing to deal with a long ball for a second time, this time it was Lex Immers who will be sending a thank you card to the defence.

Excelsior have won only once in their previous 10 league games, and it's easy to see why.

But they did find a goal on 51 minutes through Jeff Stans' simple finish.

Feyenoord re-established their three goal cushion just five minutes later when a nice passing move was polished off by Jens Toornstra.

The visitors made it 5-1 just after the hour mark, the ball eventually making out to Immers who got his second with an effort from distance.

There was still time for Feyenoord to put one through their own net - Van Beek with the unfortunate touch to make it 5-2.

That's how it ended, the win moving Feyenoord to within four points of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
