Bath beat Montpellier 30-5 on Friday to keep up their hopes of a knockout berth in the European Champions Cup.

    Script:

Montpellier welcomed Bath to the Stade de la Mosson in the Champions Cup - the visitors leaving Sam Burgess on the bench.

England's George Ford, who converted in the 11th minute with a drop goal, kicked 15 points in total.

Henry Thomas scored the opening try for Bath in the 35th, with the tighthead prop proving too strong for Enzo Selponi.

Montpellier conceded a penalty try which Ford converted to give Bath a comfortable 23-0 lead at the interval.

Leroy Houston scored Bath's third try shortly after the restart in increasingly difficult conditions.

Ford again converted from the touchline before the hosts eventually got on the scoresheet.

Burgess replaced Kyle Eastmond in the 53rd and within minutes had landed a big tackle on Rene Ranger.

The home side grabbed a consolation try in the 69th courtesy of Alex Tulou, arguably their best player on the night.

The two sides will meet again in the Champions Cup this coming Friday.
