Sub-zero temperatures greeted a Moscow derby between Lokomotiv and Spartak in the Russian Premier League.

Spartak's Denis Glushakov slipped in Quincy Promes but the Dutchman's effort was just wide of the post. The home fans nearly went cold.

In the second half Lokomotiv's Mbark Boussoufa shifted the ball quickly to Alexandr Samedov, who cut inside and forced a good save by Artem Rebrov.

The 30-year-old Russia winger has never played for a club outside his home city of Moscow.

Left winger Alan Kasaev then whipped in a dangerous cross which sailed past Dame N'Doye into the back of the net. 28-year-old Kasaev warmed the home fans' hearts.

Spartak centre-back Evgeny Makeev was beaten by N'Doye's clever sprint to the near post, which distracted Rebrov.

That goal proved to be the winner as Lokomotiv moved into the Europa League places in the table and extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches.
