After a goalless first half Shakhtar's Marlos embarked on a mazy run and broke the deadlock. The Brazilian right winger was red hot in front of goal.

A long ball by the visitors' captain Darijo Srna sent Alex Teixeira one-on-one with the keeper and the attacking midfielder rounded Evgen Borovyk to make it 2-0. On a pitch freckled by snow the Brazilian had ice in his veins.

The title chasers only had to wait 60 seconds before netting a third. Srna's shot-come-cross was turned in by Teixeira for his brace.

The reigning champions were now playing with a swagger and Wellington Nem came off the bench to almost walk the ball into the net after being set-up by fellow substitute Dentinho.

Shakhtar's 4-0 thrashing means they've scored six goals in their last three league games and moves them up to second in the table.
