  • Intro:

A look ahead to the 2014 Asian Football Confederation Player of the Year awards.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (Arabic) Khalfan Ibrahim, Al Sadd, Qatar:

"First of all, to be nominated by AFC with my brother Ismail and brother Nassir is a big honour for me. Being here - being amongst the last three nominees- is a victory. I hope to win the trophy for the second time. Even if I don't win it I am happy to be nominated. If I am not successful I think my brothers Nassir and Ismail also deserve to win. At the end of the day the trophy will go to the player who deserves to win. As for the 2006 Award I said then being young will help me in winning this again. I hope this will be it- the second time I win- or (to win again) sometime in the near future."

SOUNDBITE: (Arabic) Khalfan Ibrahim, Al Sadd, Qatar:

"What I understood from the question is whether winning before makes it less likely to win for the second time. I don't think this is the case. The player who performs well on the pitch will be selected by the Asian Confederation."

SOUNDBITE: (Arabic) Nassir Al Shamrani, Al Hilal, Saudi Arabia:

"First of all, I am happy to be here in this Asian event and hopefully I will win the award. I was the top scorer domestically last season and was competing for the top scorer in Asia. Today I am competing for the award of best Asian player. I hope God will be with me to win it."
