Chelsea arrived in Germany on Monday knowing a win against Schalke in the UEFA Champions League will guarantee they top Group G with a game to spare. Schalke are managed by Chelsea's 2012 Champions League winning manager Roberto Di Matteo, but Jose Mourinho refused to answer questions about the Italian.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jose Mourinho, Chelsea manager:

"I'm not here to speak about Di Matteo, I'm here to speak about the game tomorrow. If you want to do that I'm ready.

Di Matteo, who spent six seasons at Stamford Bridge as a player, was Chelsea's caretaker manager when they beat Bayern in the final at the German giant's Allianz Arena home in Munich. He was sacked a few months later after being given the job permanently but was happy to talk about his time in west London.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roberto di Matteo, Schalke manager (on his relationship with the Chelsea players that won the UEFA Champions League in 2012):

"Well, there's obviously a legacy between us and.... these are players that.... big players. They are big players, have achieved a lot in their careers and those are also players.... whom I'm, always will be in touch, for the rest of our lives."

Two defeats for Chelsea would see them end up in the Europa League something which Mourinho's warned his players against.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jose Mourinho, Chelsea manager:

"Going to the Europa League would be very bad, very bad for the team, because a team gets better and evolution is faster when you play in the best competitions against the best teams. And I repeat, I told that to my players already, that to go to the Europa League would be very disappointing for us."

Mourinho will be hoping that his team don't disappoint.
