Hamburg beat Werder Bremen 2-0 in the 101st German derby on Sunday (23rd November) to move out of the relegation zone and up to 15th in the Bundesliga table.

    Script:

Werder Bremen replaced Hamburg in the Bundesliga drop zone after they were beaten 2-0 at the Imtech Arena on Sunday.

The goals came late on, Ashton Goetz found his fellow-substitute Artjoms Rudnevs with a long throw to put Hamburg into the lead in the 83rd minute.

Werder were then reduced to ten men when Clemens Fritz picked up his second yellow card of the match in the 89th minute for his challenge on Matthias Ostrzolek.

Hamburg pounced on the counter-attack and added a second in injury time, Pierre-Michel Lasogga passed to Tolgay Arslan and his shot came off the post, trickled along the line before Bremen 'keeper Raphael Wolf put the ball into his own net.

Three vital points for Hamburg in their fight for survival.
