Garcia 'ghost goal' ruled-out

Saturday, November 22 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Atletico de Kolkata lost 2-1 at Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League after Luis Garcia's late strike was ruled not to have crossed the line. Garcia famously scored a 'ghost goal' against Chelsea for his former club Liverpool in the Champions League.

    Script:

Atletico de Kolkata went to third place Kerala Blasters hoping to move three points clear at the top of the Indian Super League. They had a chance to take the lead inside the first three minutes but Fikru Tefera's shot was saved by David James.
Just over a minute later the home side went in front, Pedro Gusmao dug out a cross and Iain Hume scored the opener.
And Kerala were two up before half-time, Sandshoe Jhingan's ball was awkward and Pedro poked it past Roy Chowdhury.
But it would be a nervy last 35 minutes as Tefera pulled one back for Kolkata. He didn't know much about it but that is his fourth goal of the season.
What about this at the other end, a cross come shot from Godwin Franco almost catching Chowdury off guard.
Despite that the home side were hanging on and deep in stoppage time Kolkata thought they'd levelled...
Luis Garcia couldn't believe it but the goal was not given. It finished 2-1 and Kerala move just a point behind Kolkata.
