Hodgson declines to comment on calls for World Cup boycott

Wednesday, November 19 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Hodgson was unwilling to comment on remarks made by former FA chairman David Bernstein that the nations should unite to lobby UEFA for a European boycott of the next World Cup unless FIFA implements meaningful reform simply saying that he was focussing on the match and leaving those "above" him at the FA to deal with such matters.

    Script:

    SOUNDBITE: Roy Hodgson, England manager

"I'm afraid I'm not prepared to comment on that. I mean I was briefed very quickly about it before I came here but at the moment I've got to say it is 'off piste' for me. At the moment what is important to me is the match tomorrow night. So I'll allow the people at the FA to answer those questions if you like above my head as it were. I'll just stick to the task of a football coach rather than football administrator."
