African Cup of Nations organisers have held an urgent meeting in Algeria in the lead up to next year's tournament to discuss where and when it should be held.

It follows a request from hosts Morocco to postpone the event due to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

The virus has claimed almost 5000 lives this year - the World Health Organisation says almost all of the deaths have occurred in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Morocco fears a potential influx of fans from the 15 finalist countries could cause the outbreak to spread.

The African Confederation President Issa Hayatou attended the meeting.

He'll lead a delegation to Morocco on Monday for further talks.

A statement from the footballing body is then expected to clarify the situation after weeks of speculation.

The tournament is scheduled to kick-off in Morocco on January the 17th.
