SOUNDBITE (English) Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager (On why his team lost):

"Anything we had to deal with up until the goal we dealt well with defensively. No real issues, but we made a mistake and the mistake has cost us the game and that's the biggest disappointment of it all. If you can't score the goals to win the game then it's important that you don't concede."

SOUNDBITE (English) Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager (On if his players lack commitment):

"It's one thing I'll never question with the group I work with is their hunger and desire to one, play for Liverpool and two, win the game. It's unfortunate when you lose the game like that these sort of things get pointed at. In terms of commitment my players have 100 per cent commitment to their work. It just wasn't their day."

SOUNDBITE (English) Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager (On his captain Steven Gerrard and whether he is likely stay with the club when his contract expires at the end of the season):

"I really relayed that information to the ownership that we want to keep them here. I'm sure they'll go away with that information and with Steven's representatives hopefully organise a deal because he's a player who is very much part of what I'm doing here. A unique player and a unique person with a special talent and it's something we want to offer that respect to."
