SOUNDBITE (English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United coach: (on the mood in the camp after beating Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City away from home in the last week. Buoyant?)

"Not really, not today, because we're tired. You know, I'm a little upset about the scheduling, I think it's been difficult for us, Wednesday night and then a Saturday morning fixture. So we're pretty tired today, but we will recharge our batteries. We're obviously in a good mood because of the result and where we find ourselves in that cup competition (the Capital One League Cup), so we're pleased with that, but the most important game is Liverpool."

SOUNDBITE (English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United coach: (on what sparked the recent turnaround in fortunes for Pardew and his team)

"Possibly the comeback at Hull (2-2 at Hull City on 20 September). 2-0 down at Hull and on a difficult.... on the back of a difficult run. That would have been a really tough result to take and Papiss (Cisse) getting those two goals, coming back to fitness, probably just gave us that boost that we needed. And I think we've taken that into all the games since and we've got a good points total out of that and we want to improve on our position by beating Liverpool, which is always a tough game. It's always a great fixture, it has a certain romance to it and I think it's going to make for a really cracking game on Saturday."

SOUNDBITE (English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United coach: (on his own position as coach and coping with the pressure)

"Well, you have to be strong and be consistent with your players, whether you're going through difficult times or you're going through really good times. I can't go bounding in this morning all happy and excited and 'we've won the World Cup', we've just won a game and it's the same when you get beat. You have to have a consistency of what you're about. We're planning for Liverpool from half past eight this morning. And that's how we work. And everybody else can say and do what they do in the background. We have to kind of ignore that and get on with our job."
