  • Intro:

Al-Sadd have gone top of the Qatar Stars League following a 3-1 win at Qatar SC as champions Lakhwiya dropped points at Umm-Salal.

    Script:

Champions Lakhwiya visited mid-table Umm-Salal hoping to maintain their one point lead over Al-Sadd in the Qatar Stars League.

On the 40th minute, a foul on Vladimir Weiss led to a free kick that put Michael Laudrup's side ahead.

South Korean international Nam Tae-hee stepped up and delivered the ball into the area for former Spain international Chico Flores' to powerfully head it into the back of the net.

Lakhwiya looked set for their eighth win of the season, but three minutes from time Abdulgadir Ilyas Bakur began and finished a move which sliced through their defence.

    And that's how it ended - 1-a-piece.

Lakhwiya dropping points for only the second time this season.

The result gave Al-Sadd the chance to overtake the champion if they beat Qatar SC.

And 12 minutes in they went in front.

Hassan Al Haydos showed great skill to round the goalkeeper and score.

Qatar remained in the game until this terrible goalkeeping mistake allowed Al-Sadd to double their advantage.

With 4 minutes left Qatar struck back through Hamdi Harbaoui who produced a cool finish after running clear of his marker.

It was too later however and Al-Sadd made sure of the result deep into stoppage time.

The final score 3-1, moving them one point clear of Lakhwiya at the top of the table.
