SOUNDBITE: AB de Villiers, South Africa cricket captain

"I never had the opportunity to meet Senzo (Meyiwa) personally but from what I hear he was one hell of a nice guy, an incredible leader and an amazing athlete. It's a huge loss for South Africa, for Bafana Bafana, for Orlando Pirates and obviously his family and friends. Just want to send our condolences from the Proteas to his close friends and family through this hard time."

SOUNDBITE: Hashim Amla, South Africa batsman

"From the Proteas in Hamilton (New Zealand), we've just got the news of Senzo's passing away, we would like to offer our deepest condolences to his family, to his friends and those he was close to. He is certainly in our thoughts and we are really feeling his loss as well."
