The head of South Africa's FA, the Kaizer Chiefs founder and national team coach on commented on Monday (27 October) on the death of captain Senzo Meyiwa.

"We are going to Mbombela (for South Africa vs Sudan) and I think that match must be played in his memory. That's the least that we can do. It's also a way of us saying thank you to you (Orlando Pirates) for making Senzo available for us. He was very, very patient, Senzo. He's been there waiting in the wings for a while and finally got his shot and now that he got his shot at showing the country what it is that he's made of, some cruel person or some cruel people decide to take that away from him, to take that away from us. And so I think we need to...we should take this opportunity at least in our response to show what he meant. It's an affirmation not just of him, it's an affirmation of his team mates and where they raised him and how they raised him up to perform in the national team."

"As we were sitting, deliberating, preparing for the upcoming match against (weeps) Sudan, guess what? Senzo's name was on the top of the list, both in the playing eleven as well as the captain."
