Belgian Pro League league leaders Anderlecht had their first domestic defeat of the season with a 2-0 loss against Standard Liege on Sunday.
The first half was quite uneventful, with Gohi Bi Cyriac's header going just wide after Steven Defour's corner.
However the second 45 minutes were packed with chances coming from both ends. Silvio Proto had to dive for a desperate save after Liege's Jeff Louis's dangerous effort.
Anderlecht tried to hit back in the 63rd minute, but to no avail, as Defour's long-range shot flew wide.
Frustratingly for Anderlecht, the goals all came in the last ten minutes. Paul-Jose M'Poku's free kick found Laurent Ciman, who headed impressively to Jorge Teixera, and the Portuguese opened the score.
It was M'Poku who went on the scoresheet for the second goal, cleverly cutting back onto his left foot to fool the defenders and putting Liege 2 goals up.
Luckily for Anderlecht, the score did not affect their current standings, and they are leaders for at least another week.
