Delighted Detroit revel in comeback win

  • Intro:

The Detroit Lions will head back across the Atlantic in a celebratory mood after they turned around a 21-0 half-time deficit into a win thanks to a last second field goal at Wembley Stadium.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions quarterback (On scoring his 119th touchdown to become the franchise leader)

"It's going to mean a lot somewhere down the road. Hopefully it's not my last touchdown pass for the Lions. Hopefully I've got a whole lot more coming. It's something pretty special having played for six years, really four and a half healthy. It's been nice."

SOUNDBITE Jim Caldwell, Detroit Lions head coach (On the winning field goal)

"Talk about my range of emotion. I'm not quite certain I can gauge those, there was a couple of them off the charts going back and forth and kind of up and down and particularly with the first kick, I saw the flag go up."

SOUNDBITE Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions quarterback (On his team's early offensive troubles the last two weeks)

"For us, we feel as an offense and as a team if we don't hurt ourselves, we're going to be pretty effective. And we have been hurting ourselves early in games. So we good shots to find a way get healthy, some guys will be coming back and hopefully and we'll start things a little faster than we have been."

SOUNDBITE Ndamukong Suh, Detroit Lions defensive linesman (On the team's poor first half)

"We put ourselves in a deep, dark corner and had to come out swinging. And we understood on the defensive side of the ball, as long as we got that ball back to the offense and gave them opportunities, they're going to do what they do. We really made it tough on ourselves. We can't blame anybody but ourselves, especially the front four and myself, for not putting more pressure on the quarterback and stopping the run a little bit more and better in the first half."

SOUNDBITE Golden Tate, Detroit Lions wide receiver (On his team)

"It's exciting to be a part of something like this. We're extremely excited to get back on the field and we're getting some of our key players like Calvin and hopefully Reggie and Joe back, so we're excited for the second half of the season."
