Albania to appeal Uefa punishments

Saturday, October 25 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

The Albanian FA says it will appeal Uefa's decision to award Serbia a 3-0 walkover against Albania after their Euro 2016 qualifier in Belgrade was abandoned. Serbia were deducted three points after crowd disturbance and a brawl at Partizan Stadium. Both the Serbian and Albanian FAs have been fined 100,000 euros.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English), Bardhyl Minxhozi, member of the Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Federation,

"We are very disappointed with this decision which is not balanced and doesn't reflect the reality of what happened in Belgrade stadium one week ago. We will proceed in the second stage of the judgement of UEFA to appeal this decision because we believe that Albania team didn't make any mistake to be punished in that way. We do think that the decision is rather a political than a sporting one. We believe that this decision will not help real football standard matches, and in that context the punishment was done to make some political balancing."
