"There were four shots fired through a locked toilet door with a powerful hand gun, three of those hit the deceased. My lady we have to, the court has in the judgement, but its now more important. It's not a accused that had a gun with normal ammunition that every other person would have. It was devastatingly damaging black talon ammunition."

"My lady the offer is nothing, but an attempt to influence sentence. We say in paragraph eleven my lady, 'the principle of a just sentence and the accused paying his debt to society can not be equated with the cheap offer to pay for the life of the deceased by means of a car payment.' My lady, I know why it's said and I know what the reality is, but I cannot but think, I sold a car for 375 000 rand, take this money because I did that to your daughter. My lady a man with enough means to sell a car to pay for the life a daughter my lady. That offer for the death of a loved daughter cannot be positive my lady. And the deceased's mother referred to it as blood money. She did not want it."

"My lady, my respectful submission is that the minimum, and my lady, I've been in courts too long to go to 20 and hope the court makes it a 10, I'm not doing it. The minimum term that society will be happy with, will be a 10 years in prison sentence."
