Ray Wilkins took charge of his first match as Jordan manager in a friendly against Kuwait on Friday.

Oday Saifi almost gave the 58-year-old the perfect start.

Wilkins had plenty to say going into the break and his words of encouragement almost had the desired effect when Monther Abu Amarah went close with this free-kick.

The president of the Jordan FA, Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, watched on as his new employee schemed a way to break the deadlock.

Jordan's best chance of the match fell to Saifi in the 85th minute after a neat team move, but he shot straight at Nawaf Khalidi.

The hosts were then made to pay for their profligacy. A long, diagonal pass found Yousef Nasser in the area, who finished low into the bottom corner.

Keeper Motaz Yasen got a hand to the shot but it wasn't enough.

Jordan's Saeed Murjan then wasted a chance to equalise, leaving former Chelsea assistant manager Wilkins feeling blue.
