Script:
The new A-League season got underway with AFC Champions League finalists Western Sydney Wanderers travelling to Melbourne Vicory.
It didn't take long for the fist goal of the new campaign, courtesy of Melbourne's Matthieu Delpierre.
Referee Jarred Gillett made a controversial call in the 18th minute.
He played advantage for a while but then blew for a penalty to Melbourne after Anthony Golec's handball.
Besart Berisha doubled Melbourne's advantage.
28 minutes in and captain Leigh Broxham made it 3-0.
Western Sydney did reduce the deficit before half-time as Nathan Coe failed to deal with Mark Bridge's effort.
Surprisingly, there was only one more goal in the match.
Archie Thompson completed a 4-1 win for Melbourne, who get their challenge for a first A-League title since 2009 off to a great start.
