  • Intro:

FIFA's marketing director Thierry Weil pleaded with the public and media to wait until the report into the World Cup 2018 and 2022 bidding process is published before accusing the governing body of a lack of transparency. Meanwhile, FIFA executive committee member Michel D'Hooghe said he and his colleagues were angry about having been given the £16,000 watch they've now been asked to hand back.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Michel D'Hooghe, FIFA executive committee member and chief medical officer:(on if a team doctor is impartial enough to diagnose concussion in a player)

"Your question - is it good that it's the team doctor that did it. I know why you asked that question - because a team doctor can be under pressure of the coach, on the pressure of the manager, the whole stadium if you want. You cannot forget one thing - the team doctor is a doctor who has sworn the oath of Hippocrates. The oath of Hippocrates says that in any condition a doctor has to take care of his patient, in this case the player."

SOUNDBITE (English) Michel D'Hooghe, FIFA executive committee member and chief medical officer:(on the concussion incident involving Thibaut Courtois during the week)

"In the case of Chelsea, of course I have never examined (Thibaut) Courtois. I know him well as he's from my country. I think sincerely first of all the team doctor, the lady of Chelsea did a correct examination. She came to the conclusion that he could go on and from the moment that he didn't feel well and that can happen in cases of concussions. In the beginning people can go on but the symptoms increase after some minutes and then they took the right decision to take him off."
