  • Intro:

Feyenoord beat 10-man Groningen 4-0 in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

    Script:

Last season's runners up Feyenoord came into this match against Groningen having already lost three Eredivisie games this year. So they really needed a win in Rotterdam to avoid falling further off the pace.

The first moment of note came in the 14th minute when Groningen's Johan Kappelhof was booked for this trip.

And he was left behind 10 minutes later by Colin Kazim-Richards who put Feyenoord in front.

That's the Turkish striker's third goal in five league games.

Kappelhof's day ended in the 56th minute when he was late into this challenge and received his second yellow card.

That made things somewhat easier for the home side and they were two up shortly after through Lars Immers.

That was his first goal of the season and with just under seven minutes to go Jean-Paul Boetius nodded in his first of the campaign too to make it 3-0.

There was still time for one more, Feyenoord's top goalscorer Mitchell te Verde got in on the action with his fifth league goal of the season.

So a 4-0 win that moves Feyenoord up to 10th, Groningen are now just one point above them in ninth.
