  • Intro:

Olimpik Donetsk beat Karpaty Lviv 1-0 in the Ukrainian Premier League.

    Script:

Olimpik Donetsk hosted Karpaty Lviv more than 400 miles to the west in Kiev due to the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Last year's second division champions started brighter and Aleksandr Sytnik hit the crossbar just before half-time.

After the break, his team-mate Kirill Doroshenko went one better and gave Roman Sanzhar's side the lead.

With 15 minutes to go, Karpaty substitute Mikhail Sergiychuk won a penalty after being brought down by keeper Zauri Makharadze.

But left winger Pavlo Ksonz spurned the opportunity to level the match.

It was a costly mistake as Olimpik Donetsk held on to a 1-0 victory.

The result leaves the club that was only formed in 2001 in the Europa League places, six points off the Premier League summit.

As for Karpaty, only goal difference now separates them from the relegation zone.
