Last season's Turkish Süper Lig runners-up Galatasaray suffered a shock defeat at recently-promoted Balıkesirspor.

Brazilian attacking midfielder Alanzinho slipped in Sercan Yildirim, whose deflected shot gave the hosts a surprise lead.

Gokhan Unal then completed a memorable 2-0 victory.

Table-toppers Akhisar Belediye continued their strong start to the new season after coming from behind to beat Kayseri Erciyesspor.

Struggling Erciyesspor went in front courtesy of Cenk Ankilic.

In the second half, Theofanis Gekas equalised from a corner...

Before Gekas completed his brace and the comeback.

Reigning champions Fenerbahce preserved their unbeaten record this term at home to Gaziantepspor... but they left it late.

In the 82nd minute, Gokhan Gonul was pulled back in the area by Chico and ex-Newcastle central midfielder Emre netted the resulting penalty to snatch a 1-0 win.
