Pardew adamant that he doesn't "fear the game," as Newcastle prepare for a hostile reception at home when they host Hull City on Saturday.

"Yes I've spoken to Mike. We had a long conversation on Sunday and obviously he was disappointed in the performance as he has a right to be as the owner. And he reflected that to me. And the one thing that we both agreed on was that we really needed to focus on this Saturday and try and get a win for the football club and I think that that's very important. That certain issues, particularly the issue regarding me has to somewhat take a bit of a back seat in terms for the team because it's going to be a difficult environment if we have the atmosphere that we had at Southampton for long periods."

"I never asked for any reassurance. All I do know is that I have signed a long contract here, for good and bad. And we've had some great times which seem to have been forgotten recently. And we've had some tough days as well and this will be one of our toughest. I can think of some tough days that I have had as manager here but the environment for the players on Saturday will probably be as tough as it has ever been and we have to accept that and we have to know that Hull are going to come and make good use of our situation and make it difficult for us."

"Well I don't fear the game. I think it's a tough game. I have to say that Hull on Monday night I thought were terrific, as West Ham were, and it was a game where you have to say (both teams) were at the top Premiership level. So that I have some reservations about. I think that they're tough opposition. In terms of the environment that is going to be there, I have to deal with it and I have to have the resolve to deal with it which I will have.
