SOUNDBITE: (English) Roy Hodgson, England manager:
"The intensity of the competition gets stronger and stronger. The pressures on the players both physically and mentally get greater and one of the areas we will have to look into in the future is preparing these players mentally for the pressure and the stress they're going to come under when they go to a tournament. Because even when they play at big clubs all around the world, when they get to a World Cup, most of them will tell you, this is something extra, this is something more difficult for me to come to terms with."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Roy Hodgson, England manager:
"What all of us would have liked to have taken from Costa Rica, is their preparation time. Because most of us took players at the end of a long season and had four to five weeks before the start of the first game. Whereas the Costa Rica coach told me they had actually been preparing the team non-stop for well over a year. We would've liked that amount of time. And we would've also then maybe had a chance to hone our play in the way they did."
