South Korea's FC Seoul took on Western Sydney Wanderers of the Australian A-League in the opening leg of their AFC Champions League semi-final.

In a match lacking many scoring opportunities, FC Seoul's Sergio Escudero had a chance on break in the 17th minute but failed to hit the target.

Western Sydney goalkeeper Ante Covic nearly presented the home side with an opening when the ball slipped underneath him, but no Seoul player was close enough to profit from his lapse.

FC Seoul continued to press, with substitute Molina Uribe volleying a chance that almost broke the deadlock midway through the second half.

Western Sydney had few opportunities, although Labinot Haliti should have done better with four minutes to go with an effort he skewed wide.

FC Seoul hade one last glimpse at goal, but Vitor Saba's shot was tipped over the crossbar by Ante Covic as the match ended in a draw.

The two sides play their return leg next Wednesday in Sydney.
