Wolfsburg trained at Goodison Park ahead of the German side's UEFA Europa League clash with Everton on Thursday (18th September).

Manager Dieter Hecking said excitement has been building in the city of Wolfsburg for weeks ahead of their first European match in five years.

"Well I'm feeling a bit under the weather at the moment, but anticipation is huge after a five year absence from Europe. Everybody that's travelled today - the players, management, staff and fans that were on the flight as well - have been looking forward to this for weeks. We're once again back on the European stage and there couldn't be a better start than playing Everton."

"I haven't really seen much as I slept for two and a half hours when I got here. I know that the attraction to the city of Liverpool is great. Not just Everton, but there is a neighbour across the road that was rather lucky yesterday (Tuesday - 16th September). I'm hoping the city of Liverpool's luck was used up yesterday."
